Ipoh Food Trail Part 2

DAY TWO

No alarm clock. We slept till my little prince woke us up at 9am and went for our first food hunt.
First Stop: Kedai Kopi Sin Yoon Loong
This coffee shop is located at the Old Town of Ipoh. There are many coffee shops with the similar name (just one word different or 1 alphabet different). So, look carefully before you walked in. Dear hubby almost walked into the wrong coffee shop.
They had the BEST coffee that we have ever tasted! It tasted so nice that we went back the 2nd time the next day especially for the coffee and toast. The coffee shop is always very crowded, so we waited quite sometimes before we managed to find a table.
We ordered our usual coffee and toast, while dear hb ordered some roast pork and yong tao foo from the stall in the same coffee shop. Don't think the roast pork tastes very nice, but the yong tao foo is quite nice.

My little prince has his usual milo kosong and a cupcake..He enjoyed it very much.

Hb wanted to try out the Original Old Town Coffee  (Nam Heong) which is located just opposite  Sin Yoon Loong, but I was too full to continue eating. Thus, we decided to go back to hotel to rest. I surf my internet, dear hb read his newspaper while our little boy played with us from time to time..
Time checked..12 noon...we decided to go out for our lunch. knowing the location and where to park, we found the place pretty quickly. If you have been to the Old Town white coffee in Singapore, you will find the food served in Ipoh very similar! As usual, we ordered coffee, toast, ipoh chicken Hor Fun, and chay kway tiao to share, and not forgetting a milo kosong for our little boy. We also ordered egg tarts from the tim sum stalls, and it tasted soooo niceeee!!! Until we ordered again!! The coffee is nothing compared to Sin Yoon Loong, but the kaya butter bread tasted much better. Hb and I were thinking whether can we taboo coffee from Sin Yoon Loong to come here to eat as we love the ipoh Hor Fun and chay kway tiao too!!!

After a heavy lunch, we decided to burn some calories and went to visit the Perak Tong. It is one of the cave temples in Perak. We might have climbed hundreds of steps to reach the top of hill. Bravo to my little prince who didn't ask us to carry him and instead walk up and down the steps on his own!

What's next after some sight seeing? It's food hunting again, we went around trying to find a cendol store that was so small that we must have miss it a few times during searching. Verdict of the cendol: rather special, but we might not return as we had found a better cendol place on the last day of our trip!

Up next, we went to search for the famous salted chicken for our tea-break! The store is pretty easy to find. This must be one of the best salted chicken that we had eaten! We love that it is cooked with dang gui (a chinese herbs) and its not so salty. We actually bought the chicken back to the hotel and ate it slowly while our little boy had his much needed afternoon nap. In fact, we loved it so much that we went back the next day to tabao it again so that we can have it during our drive back to Singapore..:)

Sylvan woke up at 7pm and we decided to went to search for the famous bean sprouts chicken. It was located very near to the salted chicken location, and we had earlier seen it. Thus, it was very easy for us to reach there. As usual, the place was very crowded with lots of people waiting for others to finish their food so that they can have a seat. We were very lucky to find a place very quickly!
We ordered half a chicken, a plate of bean sprouts, a plate of chicken rice and a bowl of Hor Fun to share. I must say that we loved every single dishes that we ordered! So yummy that we finished everything up!

Ipoh Food Trail Day One

The Ong family went on a road trip just before Christmas! There were only 3 of us as my princess went  to China with her gong gong and po po instead. I am glad we have this opportunity to bond with our little prince. Since his arrival 3 years ago, we seldom have the time to spend one to one time with him without his sister.
Anyway, we didn't really plan for the trip except searching for some nice to eat places. We purposely make this a relaxing trip while we just eat and sleep and bond with the boy. Overall, all our objectives are achieved! All three of us have a great time bonding together!
Here is the summary of our trip:

DAY ONE
We started our trip around 12 noon as we need to send the princess to catch her flight in the morning. After some last minute packing and checking the second link traffic, we were ready to go!
Dear hubby is in charge of driving with the help of the GPS, and I am the back-up driver as usual. Due to lack of sleep (hb worked till 2am in the morning before coming home), the back-up driver took over the wheels for the last one hour. It's been a long time since I drove in the North-South highway..hehe..

Our little prince slept for most part of the journey. When he was awoke, he spent his time playing with either mummy or daddy..:)

We finally reached our hotel at 8pm. After searching online, I decided to book Tune Hotel. Tune hotel was operated by AirAsia, which explains the color of the hotel. It was a comfortable, and conveniently located hotel. When you booked the hotel, you will be given the very basic item - comfortable bed and hotel. Everything else are add-on. You can select the different add-on package. It cost about RM22 for 24 hours of air-con and a bath towel, wireless internet cost RM12 for 24 hours. Overall, the price is still pretty reasonable as we paid around SGD98 for 2 nights stay during peak season include 24hrs of air con. In my opinion, adding of air con might not be necessary as the room has a ceiling fan, and we are already feeling very cold with the fan right on top of the bed! Oh, did I mention that TV and bath towel and toiletries are also consider add-on, but thats not important for us as we seldom watch any TV programs.

Right after check-in, we walked right across the road to one of my short-listed dinner venue. Pusing Public restaurant is just besides our hotel, how convenient can that be!
Pusing Restaurant is very popular in Ipoh, they are always full. In fact, I read on internet review that during weekends, they are packed with at least 2 wedding dinners. We reached there around 830p.m. and indeed, the whole place is full, luckily, we managed to find a table at the 2nd floor, which has 2 wedding dinners going on too.
Food wise, we had steamed ginger chicken, pan-grilled prawns, broccoli with crabmeat and scallops and a noodle. It adds up to RM90, which is very cheap when you convert to SGD. We wanted to order  crabs but the waitress says its a minimum of 2 crabs for their popular dish, which is not possible for us to finish. Never mind, there is always the next time when we come again..:)

Snowy Vacation: Austria - Maria Alm Day 2 Part 2

We walked back to our resort to take our car and discovered this!
All the cars are covered by the snow. We had a hard time finding our car.

Found our car finally!
But we spent the next 30mins clearing the snow which was stuck on the car. This is the first time we experienced clearing snow from our car. OMG, its a tough job! Luckily it was a rented car, will definitely felt hard pain if it was our precious Sabaru back in Singapore.

We drove to a nearby ski location and took the ski lift up to the top. This was the first time we took a ski lift. The view from the ski lift was simply amazing! Everywhere are white. We wanted very much to ski, but we were quite under prepared for this trip.

There was a ski hut at the top and feeling cold and hungry, we quickly went in for a meal. Surprising, the food tasted really good.

After filling our stomach, we went out for a walk in the snow. It was snowing heavily and the wind was very strong too. We had a hard time walking on the snow. If only I don't feel so cold, I will have stay much longer under the snow.

Shortly after, we took the ski lift back to the bottom of the mountain. This was a memorable experience for both my hb and I.

Snowy Vacation: Austria - Maria Alm Day 2

Woke up bright and early the next morning and was surprised to find the whole place covered with snow. All the cars and bushes are fully covered under the snow. Lovely lovely scenery which I had not seen for a long long time. It is indeed a dream comes true as we have been praying for a snowy vacation. I had long forgotten how tough it is to walk on snow.

The ski resort which we will be staying for the next one week. It is still snowing actually.

Check out how deep the snow is! Luckily we are well prepared for the trip. :)

The start of our Snowy Vacation

With our 2 trusty big luggages, we are off to Munich - the first leg of our snowy vacation! This time round, we chose to fly with Emirates because they offered the cheapest price air tickets on the dates that we wanted. :)

View from the plane as we touched down to Munich Airport. We were excited to see the whole place covered with snow. What a great start to our Snowy Vacation. It was dear hubby first snow experience and we can't wait to build a snowman together.

From Munich, we will collect our rental car and drove to Austria - Maria Alm, a small village where we will be staying for the next one week.
