Gourmet food in Saint Johann, Austria

We dined near our resort as we reckoned that both S will be very tired after a day or skiing. With the help of the tripadvisor, we managed to find some nice restaurant around where we stayed. :)

First day after checking in, we decided to have our dinner at the Pongauer Stubn  which is an in-house restaurant that serves local food specialities.

As usual, they can't do without the Wiener Schnitzel. We decided to order some salmon with rice as they had been munching fries everyday.

We had one of the best meal in Cavalli which is just besides our resort. In fact, the food is so nice that we made a reservation to come back again 2 days later.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere too.

One of the best seafood soup that I had ever drink. I had it twice during my visit. :)

We also dine in the Italian restaurant inside our resort one of the nights when Cavalli is not available. Surprisingly the pizza and risotto taste great too.

On one of our non-skiing days, we actually venture out for lunch with the kids. We went back to the restaurant which Hb and I went 2 years ago. And yes, the restaurant is still around.

There is a café within walking distance from our resort and that's where we had our breakfast in the morning. Kids and I love bread and we can have them everyday, not forgetting a cup of café latte / mocha for me. :)

I am glad that we made an effort to research for gourmet food whenever we travel.

Skiing in Austria with kids

The highlight of our trip is getting everyone to ski!

Having been to top of the mountain for the past 2 years, we decided to learn skiing instead of viewing the snowy mountain.
Both S were very excited when Daddy S told them that we will be going for a skiing trip this year end. To prepare them, Daddy S frequently play beginner skiing tips video in the youtube for them to watch.

This year, we decided to stay in Alpenland Sporthotel-St.Johann-im-pongau.
We booked a 2 bedroom unit but when we reached the hotel, it turned out to be 2 rooms adjoining together. Both S were very happy to have their own bedroom!

Our stay for the next 7 days

Alpenland Sporthotel is about 5min drive from where we will be skiing in - Alpendorf. Every morning, we will have our breakfast in a nearby café before driving over to the ski location.

Before the trip, we had made arrangement with Toni Gruber Ski School for beginner class for both the kids and us. Because it was the start of the season, the children ski school is not open yet, thus, Toni offered us a great price for 3hr of private lesson for 3 days. We had 2 instructors, one for the kids and one for us.

Happy kids who can't wait to ski

For 3 days, every morning from 10am to 1pm, we will go for our respective ski classes. Then we will take our lunch before practising what we had learnt in the afternoon. At around 3.30pm, we started to descend and drove back to our resort.

Both S in their ski school outfit. They look so cute. :)

After 3 lessons, Daddy S and I were able to ski independently. However, we decided to extend one more day of lesson for the kids as they still have not been to the beginner slope. This proved to be a great decision as both S gained more confidence and were able to ski much better.

Big S is a confident gal who has strong resilient. She fell when she tried the T-bar for the first time but she never gives up and keep trying. She did well skiing on her own and we feel safe allowing her to go up and down the slope independently after 4 days of lessons.

With their instructor, Miss Laura. She is a 18 years old young gal who just started teaching skiing. But she did a wonderful job and both S like her very much. Maybe because of the sweets that she gave them everyday..:p

At the end of the 4th lesson, all of us can go on the beginner slope independently!
Small S still required Daddy's help to go up as he is under aged and too short. :p

Happy kids with daddy after our 5 days skiing in Alpendorf!

We had started thinking of our next ski trip!
