Hong Kong with the Princess: Ocean Park

We started day 3 pretty late as my dear princess only wakes up at 8plus.
Because of the protest in Hong Kong,  we cannot take the bus from Admiralty MTR. Instead the hotel concierge advised us to take the MTR to Central and take a taxi from there.
The taxi ride is about 15 mins and is about HKD100.

We reached Ocean Park about 1030am and proceed to buy our tickets.  It costs about HKD 320 for adult and HKD 160 for child. The sales girl tried to up sell us a more expensive ticket which allows us to go on faster queue.  But I decided to stick to the cheaper options.  And I am glad I did. Find out more on the reasons below:

The moment we entered Ocean Park, we rushed to take the cable car. I had read previously on the blog that the queue for the cable car rides can be v long, but luckily,  we managed to board the cable car within 10mins wait.
The princess was very excited as she has been waiting to ride the cable car for the longest time.  However,  she said she has some fear as we were very high up.

The moment we reached the top of Ocean Park, princess was excited to take some rides. But we soon discovered that she is a few cm short of the height limit. It was quite frustrating for her as almost all the rides that she was interested in,  she was short of the height limit.

Finally,  we had the opportunity to take 2 rides in the top area of Ocean Park.

A roller coaster called Arctic Blast where Children between 4 and 6 years of age or between 100 cm to 120 cm of height must sit in the same row with an accompanied person (which is ME).

Princess wanted to ride it again. But I am not willing to queue for another 30mins. I convinced her to try out other rides, which unfortunately, she doesn't meet any of the height requirement.

We walked around the Summit and finally to have lunch before searching for rides for her again.

Lunch was her usual favourite, chicken wings with fries.

We took our 2nd ride, the ferris wheel.

And then we decided that we should take the cable car down as the summit does not have any rides suitable for her.

She wanted very much to take the pumpkin cable car and YES, her wish is granted! Happy princess onboard the pumpkin cable car.

We went on the carousel together.

And took some pictures along the Old Hong Kong street.
We also visited the panda but it did not interest the princess.

At about 3 plus, the princess declared that she needs her afternoon nap badly n we decided to leave Ocean Park. We took a taxi to IFC Mall, a place which I am familiar with n found a Starbucks where she had her afternoon nap while I had my afternoon coffee in peace. :)

Hong Kong with the Princess: Day 1

The day has finally arrived!
Our very first mother and daughter trip.
I took opportunity of the Cathay Pacific Airline promotion and managed to get both of tickets at $500 in total.  That's cheap considering that it is a full service airline instead of budget airline.

We woke up early and took a cab to the airport.  As we reached the airport early,  we managed to go for breakfast followed by play time at the playground before boarding the plane.

At the playground,  princess wanted me to play with her but I explained to her that I can't as I need to look after our hand luggage.  I encouraged her to approach the girl who is playing alone and asked whether can they play together.  She did and had lots of fun.  :)

The flight to Hong Kong was pretty short. As usual,  princess kept herself occupied by watching in flight movie. Kids meal was served shortly and luckily it's her favourite rice rice with chicken.  This girl can be quite choosy with food.

We reached Hong Kong international airport at 2pm. After clearing the custom,  we went to buy a prepaid data plan sim card. Managed to get one from the 7-11 store for HKD88. It was one of the cheapest as other teleco shops were selling for HKD288. :)

Settled our sim card and we proceed to look for our free hotel transfer.  Being the 2nd  time staying in Marriott Sky City hotel,  I am familiar with where to look for the transfer.

We reached the hotel n check in immediately.  Sign up as Marriott rewards members and received free wifi during our stay.

Our stay for the next 4 nights.
